Venom 3 Now Subtitled The Last Dance – One Can Hope

Venom 3 is now subtitled The Last Dance according to Variety, and one can hope it really is the last dance for this franchise.

Venom 3 is now subtitled The Last Dance according to Variety, and one can hope it really is the last dance for this franchise. The Venom threequel will once again star Tom Hardy, who must be getting paid well to do this. That’s my only explanation. Venom: The Last Dance also moves up and will now release on October 25th instead of November 8th.

As per the trade,

‘The third installment of the “Venom” franchise finally has a title, “Venom: The Last Dance.” Sony has also moved up the film’s release date to Oct. 25, 2024, from the previously-announced Nov. 8 date.’

‘Plot details are still under wraps, but Tom Hardy will return as the lethal protector Eddie Brock/Venom in the film, also starring Juno Temple, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Clark Backo.’

‘Kelly Marcel will make her feature directorial debut with the project. She also wrote the screenplay from a story she developed with Hardy. Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach, Amy Pascal, Hutch Parker, Marcel and Hardy are producing.’

Regular readers will know I’ve had zero interest in this franchise from the start. I see nothing to change my view. Venom without Spider-Man prior to Eddie Brock makes zero sense and should never have happened. Morbius, Madame Web, and probably Kraven are all pointless without connecting them to Spider-Man. Sadly Spider-Man is a character the SSMU has been lacking since it began.

It is very clear to anyone watching that Sony’s business model is simple. Get one lead star who’s a name, have almost no other budget and don’t use Spider-Man. Then heavily promote it’s from Marvel without lying and hope it makes a small profit. How good these movies are is of almost no consequence to Sony. In fact the only thing that may have made then think twice s how badly Madame Web bombed.

It’s also possible that following comments from Dakota Johnson that agents may begin to wake up and do their homework. Too many of thee actors are hoodwinked by Sony into thinking they are entering the MCU. That’s on their agents not knowing the business, but the publicity of Johnson and this flop may wake them up.

I have no interest in seeing Tom Hardy as Venom ever, nor do I want to see him ever meet Holland’s Spider-Man. If the MCU was to do Venom, then I’d wat it to be the more comic accurate version. No offence to Hardy, great actor and happy to see him doing anything else. Just not Venom movies.

What do you think of this news that Venom 3 is now subtitled Venom: The Last Dance? Can we hope this is Venom’s last dance? Thoughts below.
