Venom Director Won’t Rule Out Unrated Cut

Yesterday, we reported on the reveal that Venom would be rated a disappointing PG-13. This means that any hopes fans had of the studio actually taking full advantage of the character were tossed out the window. And, of course, as one would expect, this means Sony is hoping that one day the character would get to play in the same sandbox as Spider-Man.

But in doing so, are they ruining a character? Many would argue that they are, but there is still hope that fans could get the Venom they want in an unrated film. Speaking with Fandango, director Ruben Fleischer didn’t rule out the idea.

“I wouldn’t rule anything out. We’ll have to see where it lands, I guess, but I wouldn’t rule anything out.”

Of course, this is anything but a confirmation. At the end of the day, this is the studio’s decision, and if they’re concerned about an unrated film potentially ruining the branding of Marvel Studios, thereby ruining their ability to mesh with the MCU as a whole.

But enough about that. Is an unrated Venom movie actually something you want? Let us know your thoughts down below!
