Venom: Let There Be Carnage Delayed Again But Only One Week

Venom: Let There Be Carnage delayed

Venom: Let There Be Carnage delayed again folks. The movie was originally pushed back, again,  just recently and now there is a further delay. Venom: Let There Be Carnage will now release on September 24th. Whilst no reason was given it is thought this delay is a result of Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings being moved to September 3rd. This latest move now gives Venom 2 a little room in between Shang-Chi and October’s release of Dune.

Venom did ok at the box office, but that was partly from releasing away from other competing movies. Sony know there is not the level of buzz for Venom 2 that there is for either Shang-Chi or Dune. The problem may well be how willing fans are to head back to theatres by then? I can see fans taking the risk for the likes of Shang-Chi and Dune, but Venom 2 I am already hearing fans say they will wait till it’s available at home. Unlike most of the big studios right now Sony has no streaming platform they can use Venom 2 to sell subscriptions for. Sony needs Venom 2 to make a profit at the box office, and whilst we have no word on the budget, no one expects a Marvel level movie I think.

I feel like Sony’s current wheelhouse is to use well known IP’s make under budget movies from them and earn a quick buck. This is what worries me regarding Ghostbusters: Afterlife also. Even if word of mouth is strong for Venom: Let There Be Carnage, I won’t be seeing it at theatres. Actually, Venom 2 would need serious praise for me to watch it in the house when it comes to cable/satellite.

Maybe you are super excited for the movie though? If so what do you think of Venom: Let There Be Carnage delayed again for a further week? Does anyone actually care? If you do, thoughts below please.
