As per the title, Venom: Let There Be Carnage moves again, though this time it is forwards. Following the box office performance of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Sony, as reported by EW has moved the date of Venom 2 forward to October 1st. As per the trade.
The change comes on the heels of a strong showing at theaters for fellow Marvel superhero film Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, which smashed Labor Day box office records by making $90 million over the three-day weekend. It was also the second-biggest domestic opening of the year, behind July’s Black Widow.
So Shang-Chi performing well has left Sony convinced the market is ready for Venom: Let There Be Carnage. Are Sony aware Shang-Chi has been praised by critics and fans alike and is an actual MCU movie? I’m sure they must realize that a Venom sequel will not perform that well. But then, maybe I’m wrong? I guess from Sony’s point of view, they’ll know what they need for this movie to be a success and must feel they can attain that now.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage will see Tom Hardy’s version of Venom going up against Carnage and Shriek in his toughest fight yet. I can see why some comic book fans will be attracted to this one, and if this was an MCU movie, I’d be there day one. I love the comic book versions of Venom and Carnage. However this version of Venom, without a Spider-Man influence just leaves me hollow. It’s like rebooting Indiana Jones and instead of an Archaeology Professor who goes on adventures, he is an adventurer with a passing interest in History. Both may be called Indiana Jones, but only one of them actually is. That’s just me though, and you may feel different.
So Venom: Let There Be Carnage moves again, will you be seeing it in theatres in October 1st? as always, sound off below.
