Venom: Ruben Fleischer On Where A Sequel Could Take Venom And Eddie’s Relationship (Exclusive)

While many of us were expecting a bit of a dark and gritty film with Venom, it ended up being quite different. It was fun, it was goofy, and it was a bit…romantic? Yeah, when all said and done, it played out kind of like a bromantic story between a man and his parasite — the kind of story that makes you (or at least it made me) go “awww” at the end.

But what more story is there to tell? Sure, there are plenty of other villains for Venom to take one, but what of the relationship between Venom and Eddie? I recently spoke with Venom director Ruben Fleischer on the phone, and asked him where he could see their relationship going.

Here’s what he said:

“I mean the first movie was about them meeting, right. It was about their coming together. So there’s a natural evolution from that to like, okay, now what’s it like to live together? It’s like a bromantic sort of relationship.”

Now, it’s worth stating this is by no means Fleischer confirming his involvement in the movie, nor is he confirming that this is where the story will go. At the end of the day, the actual direction of the story will be in the hands of writers. That being said, this does seem like a natural way to progress the story between the two of them. I’m certain it will be dealing with that, and if it does, that hijinks will ensue.

What do you think of this potential direction? Let us know down below!
