A couple years back, audiences couldn’t have imagined that we’d actually be getting a full-on Venom film. Based on the way the Marvel Cinematic Universe had been set up in the past, a character as dark as Venom simply would have no place. The solution? Have him run around in his own, more grounded universe. Sure, he’s supposedly still IN the MCU, but he’s kind of off in his own pocket universe.

The film has been in production for some time, and is well on its way to hitting its October release date later this year. We’re supposedly supposed to get our first real look at Venom this week, but ahead of that, actor Tom Hardy has taken to Instagram to show off a new photo of him on set.

Check it out below:

The photo shows Hardy sitting next to longtime Spider-Man producer Avi Arad. This isn’t our first behind-the-scenes look at things. Hardy has shared some other photos in the past, and while they’re nice to look at, we can’t wait to see what the actual first look at Venom will be.

With a film like this, it’s easy to be cynical about this. From Sony, it seems like another cash grab, but given all the talent involved (including actors Tom Hardy, Michelle Williams, Jenny Slate, Riz Ahmed, and Woody Harrelson, not to mention Zombieland director Ruben Fleischer, there are plenty of reasons to be optimistic, as we discussed in our most recent PODCAST EPISODE.

Are you excited for our first look at Venom? Let us know down below!

Another example of something we didn’t want. Venom could exist in the MCU. He would be a great villain that didn’t threaten the whole world but gave Sidey a run for his money. Sony is going to muddy the waters and have so many people wondering why Tom Holland’s Spider-Man isn’t in the movie.

He’ll be in the post-credit scene

So in Infinity War Thanos will grab spidey and throw him in the air and blast him with the reality stone. We won’t see him again until Venom post credit scene where he arrives and wonders where he’s at.

    • If it will go badly, they might sell the rights back to Marvel. If so, expect a reboot of some kind. And by the time it will happen, people are already pissed. I cross fingers Sony does a good job on this along with the people involved. For the sake of the fans.

    • Let the movie cook and take a chill pill bro

So….. Ya holdin then? What will two jacksons get me?

  • Kindofabigdeal

Yay, behind the scenes to a film I have no interest in.
Even if this was Marvel doing it I’d still say it’s too early to introduce Venom. We barely got a Parker everyone likes. Take your time with the slow build, let people who know what they are doing handle it, or suffer the same fate as DC.

So many talented people in this bizarre project. Not gonna say I’m interested, but who knows the odds? Maybe something good comes out of this.

Avi Arad is such a weird guy.
