So if you’re ready to jump into the weekend and don’t want to worry much about heavy news pieces, I have just the news item for you. At least I got a kick out of it. As we know, Gwyneth Paltrow is one of those actors that’s been with the Marvel Cinematic Universe from the very beginning. First appearing in Iron Man back in 2008, she went on to reprise her role most recently in Avengers: Endgame.
But, of course, she also came back prior to that in a brief cameo role in Spider-Man: Homecoming. In the scene in question, she popped out of a room in Avengers HQ to tell Tony that there was a whole room full of reporters waiting for some big news. Given that many fans had given up on seeing Paltrow again in the franchise (especially since she was written out of Civil War), it was a good surprise.

As it turns out, however, she’d completely forgotten about the cameo.
As you can see in the clip above, while starring alongside Jon Favreau in the first episode of Netflix’s The Chef Show, the discussion of the show’s origin revealed that Favreau first took a crack at the idea while they were filming Spider-Man: Homecoming. Paltrow insisted she wasn’t in Spider-Man before finally getting her memory jogged.
It’s pretty funny to watch, and in her defense, it may very well have just been a couple hours she spent on set, and she probably conflated her time on that set with the time she spent on Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. Either that or she was lied to and is owed more money for doing one more film than she realized…
