Viewers Have Found Two More Virus-Related Films To Watch During The Pandemic

People are morbid motherf**kers. While I’m sitting here during the pandemic doing my best to find content to watch that is as far removed from the whole thing as possible, most of you guys are searching out the most terrifying things ever. We already knew that the film Contagion has been topping the charts. We have our friends over at Reelgood to thank for that. With their over two million users across virtually every streaming platform, it’s always fun to pick at the data they send our way.

This past week saw viewers jump from the ever-popular Contagion to couple of other pandemic-related films. In the number nine spot of most-streamed films across all services is Outbreak. This 1995 film stars Dustin Hoffman, Rene Russo, Morgan Freeman, Kevin Spacey, Cuba Gooding Jr., Donald Sutherland, and Patrick Dempsey, among others. So it’s a celebrity-filled ‘90s thriller very much of the time. If you’re a fan of movies like Armageddon and Independence Day and are still hoping for a less terrifying tone, then you can do worse than Outbreak.

The other film viewers have flocked to took the number 26 spot on the list of most-streamed movies across all services. It is decidedly scarier than Outbreak by quite a large margin. I’m talking about 28 Days Later from director Danny Boyle. While originally coined as a zombie movie, it’s not so much zombie as it is “rage-inducing virus.” Basically, in this world, many are infected by a virus that makes them hulk out in the worst way possible. The film starts off in the middle of a derelict London and the tension only builds from there.

Luckily, the list is full of plenty of other non-virus-related movies. Among them, we have The Shawshank Redemption and Frozen II, which I think are closer to the types of movies I’d personally seek out. But as far as pandemic films, these other two aren’t so bad.

What do you think of these two films breaking onto the top 30 list out of nowhere? Any other movies you anticipate making the list in the weeks to come? Let us know your thoughts down below!
