Actor and former football/soccer player Vinnie Jones declined an offer to appear as Juggernaut in Deadpool & Wolverine. In a recent video interview, see below, Jones talks though all his acting roles so far. Of course eventually talk turns to his role, albeit brief in X-Men: The Last Stand. Jones had quite a bit to say about that movie and how his role was cut down dramatically to just a cameo. Check out the full video below for his comments about his experience.
However, Jones also had this to say with regards to Juggernaut.
“I just got asked to do Deadpool, the new one that’s coming out now. I spoke to the director, and I just said, ‘It’s such a drama putting that suit on, mentally and physically.’ It had its mental toll as well, because you’re in it, and you can’t do anything all day. You can only drink from a straw. So, we couldn’t strike a deal for Deadpool, but, I mean, Deadpool is my favorite movie of f*cking all time, more or less. I really wanted to do it, but they didn’t have the budget to put me in the suit.”
Look, no one is really gonna miss this version of Juggernaut, no offence Vinnie. However, I think what this does show is the sheer depth Marvel has gone to to cram cameos from the FoX-Men Universe into this movie. We already know about Wolverine (duh!) and Pyro is back along with Dafne Keen as X23. There are rumors of several other returning characters and actors.
Of course you never know whether to believe in all the rumors. I will say that if they were trying to get Jones in as Juggernaut then must really be going for it.

I guess for Vinnie the idea of putting that suit on again, even for a movie like Deadpool & Wolverine wasn’t a pleasant one. I’ll assume he had a price he’d need to go through that, and the price was too high for the size of the role. It’s a shame because there could have been some cool moments in the movie.
