Waititi Talks Thor 5 Possibilities And Calls Love And Thunder Funnier Than Ragnarok

Waititi talks Thor 5

Taika Waititi talks Thor 5 possibilities in a recent interview with The Sydney Morning Herald. The director has just wrapped on principal for Thor: Love and Thunder and he claims it will be even funnier than Ragnarok. However, could this just be another step on Thor’s story? The director was pragmatic about the possibility of a Thor 5 though, saying, “who knows if we do another one”.

“I think this might be funnier,” he says. “Everything we did with Ragnarok, we’ve just multiplied it. Who knows if we do another one after this but I definitely feel like we put everything – every idea and every single ridiculous concept or gag or stunt or character – into this film. I couldn’t be happier with it.”

I guess you should always play any opportunity like this as though it is your last. Granted that also comes with some responsibility to the MCU at large in this films case. For example, does Marvel still want to have Thor around after Love and Thunder is done. However, all of that would have been worked out between Waititi and Marvel during the initial concept stage. Where I think Marvel will be more hands off, is the actual story Waititi is trying to tell. I can imagine Feige just checking to make sure the Guardians are where they need to be for Guardians 3, and where Thor needs to be for any plans Marvel has for him in the future.

Frankly, given that we have lost Chris Evans, RDJ, and ScarJo from the roster, I want to see Hemsworth stick around. Equally with Mark Ruffalo’s Banner. Ruffalo’s age is kind irrelevant to the character of Hulk, and Hemsworth is still young and extremely fit enough to play Thor for a fair few years to come. It’s a good idea for the next Avengers movie to still have some of the originals, then change the team a few characters at a time over the years.

As for Thor 5, bring it on. I loved Ragnarok and I cannot wait for Love and Thunder. If he is willing, ask Waititi back, though that might take a few years. Waititi is a man in demand, with many of his own plans also. There’s the small matter of his Star Wars movie to tackle next after Love and Thunder for a start.

However if Love and Thunder is somehow even better than Ragnarok, then I’ll wait. What do you think of his comments as Waititi talks Thor 5 possibilities? As always, leave any thoughts below.
