Wakanda Forever And The Tragedy Of Boseman’s Death – Kevin Feige Opens Up

Wakanda Forever And The Tragedy Of Boseman's Death Kevin Feige Opens Up

Marvel boss Kevin Feige finally opens up a little about Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and the tragedy that surrounds the movie with the sad passing of star Chadwick Boseman. Boseman would, and should have starred once more as King T’ Challa in the sequel to his solo debut. Sadly, as we all know too well, Boseman passed away last year after a fight against Colon Cancer. When Feige spoke to Rotten Tomatoes recently, he admitted that they were as shocked as the rest of the world to hear of the sad news.

“The death of Chad had hit all of us extremely hard — and at the same time as it hit the world, because we didn’t know either,” he admitted. “And there were all sorts of questions, and our first thought for many weeks afterwards had nothing to do with the movie, it had to do with him and his family and his wife and his legacy.”

However eventually Kevin Feige and his team had to start thinking about the movies. Where do you go now? Wakanda had already been introduced to acclaim in the MCU. Therefore you cannot put the genie back in the bottle. Wakanda itself was too popular and had such a cultural impact, that the show had to go on.

Discussions essentially came down to continuing the legacy of Wakanda and continuing with that storyline in a very meaningful, respectful, and yet still hopeful and fun and exciting way, which was difficult after losing Chad.”

“I will say that Ryan and our producer, Nate Moore, and the entire cast, and our co-writer Joe Robert Cole, have done some remarkable things in the story and the draft,” he teased. “The team is assembling once again and cameras roll in the not-too-distant future on that. And it will be extremely emotional across the board, but I think they have something very special in mind.”

I’m really not sure how Marvel Studios can pull this off. I feel like whatever decisions are made with regards to Black Panther: Wakanda Forever I’ll give them more leeway. This is one movie where the importance of carrying on, at least initially, is more important than the end product for me. Wakanda Forever and the tragedy which preceded it, will always be a part of it.

Rumors have the Atlanteans showing up in the MCU finally. I’m all for that, sounds fun. However, I also can’t help think the movie will always miss it’s central character. As always, sound off below in the usual spot.
