In 2014, NBC premiered the DC Comics series Constantine. The series developed a loyal fan base (including this writer), but not enough to make the network renew it, leading to its cancelation after thirteen episodes. Since that anouncement, fans and execs attempted to mount a campaign to bring the series back, either on NBC or the CW. While petitions were formed, the series was never picked up and aside from the character appearing on a couple of episodes on Arrow and Legends Of Tomorrow, Constantine would disappear from television. At the time, producer Daniel Cerone said this of the cancelation:
“We’re leaving behind wild and passionate fans who believe in and were moved by what we tried to do. To leave such a significant, dedicated and active fan base on the table—that’s the real sadness. You all deserve many years of the series we set out to make, and we’re disappointed that we couldn’t deliver that to you.”
Now, four years later, it seems the Hellblazer is poised for a return.

We Got It Covered is reporting that Warner Bros. has plans to bring back the series. Moreover, it seems WB has every intention of bringing back Matt Ryan to reprise his role as the Exorcist, Demonologist, and Master of the Dark Arts. While the CW Seed streaming service did put together an animated film with Ryan voicing the lead character, that is not what they have in mind now. This will be a full-blown, live-action return for the fan favorite with the actor portrayal that so many fans adored.
There is no word yet as to whether this would be a series made for the DC Universe streaming app (where he would be alongside his old comic book buddy Swamp Thing) or if Constantine will be a part of the CW’s ArrowVerse. In either case, fans can breathe a sigh of relief as the popular character is poised to return to the small screen.
