Warner Brothers Sets Date For Prequel Wonka

According to Collider, Warner Bros. wants to show us what Willy Wonka was up to before he built his chocolate factory. The studio has even set a date for the film simply titled Wonka, which is March 17, 2023.  While it’s being reported neither actor has been offered the role, Timothée Chalamet and Spider-Man himself, Tom Holland, are said to be at the top of the studio’s wishlist.

I’m not very familiar with Chalamet. However, I do like the idea of seeing Holland take on the role of the eccentric candy maker. If the whole Back to the Future reboot doesn’t happen, and it’s extremely unlikely to do so.

To be honest both Willy Wonka’s gave me the creeps. Gene Wilder’s version up until the end of the film, and Johnny Depp’s version all the way through. This is due to the fact that while watching the original film as a child, I assumed Wonka killed those children. Looking around the old Google machine, I can’t find a clear answer as to whether he did or not.

Though it appears as if I am not alone in thinking Wonka took care of the guests in his chocolate factory in an incredibly dark way.
