Was Loki Always Set To Return After Infinity War? Marvel Boss Kevin Feige Comments

Loki

We are now well on our way to our next step in our Marvel journey through Marvel Studios. Today is the release of the third series from the said studio, Loki. After the events of Avengers: Infinity War and then Avengers: Endgame fans were left questioning what was the “final” fate of Tom Hiddleston’s God of Mischief. But it looks like his fate is to now jump around through time with his new “friend” Mobius, played by Owen Wilson.

What is unique about Loki is that we are used to seeing him as a God. Always confident and conniving because he could rely on his powers to do whatever he wants. We find Loki at the beginning of this series being stripped of all of that and having to rely on the other skills he may not have had to use as much before. It’s great to be able to see a fan-favorite character like this flipped and shown in a different light.

But was this always the plan for Hiddleston’s character? It’s interesting that the answer is no. During a recent press conference that LRM Online attended with the cast and creative team of Marvel Studios’ Loki, producer Kevin Feige was asked if this series was always in the cards, specifically after Avenger: Infinity War.

“I think we did not know it when we shot Infinity War. But I think we did know it when we shot Endgame is my recollection of it. What that meant and where that specifically would go, we didn’t know. But one of my favorite things coming out of Endgame was people saying that we forget to tie up the loose end of Loki. Loki just disappears and we forgot to mention what happens to him at the end of that movie”, said Feige.

Personally, as a fan of Hiddleston’s character, I was crushed when I saw him die in Avengers: Infinity War. But as the God of Mischief, I always held hope that he had found a way out. Strangely enough, I did not think that it would come as a result of time travel. Regardless I am happy that he was back. Feige also commented on how excited he was to see people eager to see what had become of Loki in the series.

Loki has a very different feel than both WandaVision and Falcon and the Winter Soldier. I feel that it has a better “buddy cop” feel than Falcon and the Winter Soldier did. It’s very fortunate that Hiddleston is so good as an actor because I dare to say that Wilson almost steals the show. Now the big question is what happens to the God of Mischief post series. We’ll find out soon enough!
