The Marvel Cinematic Universe turns ten-years-old next year; a year that will see the culmination of everything that has come before in Avengers: Infinity War. Iron Man kicked things off on May 2, 2008, and the MCU has been printing Marvel Studios and Disney money ever since, as well as delighting fans the world over. Counting July’s Spider-Man: Homecoming, the MCU is sixteen films strong, with Thor: Ragnarok due out this November, Black Panther following in February, and Infinity War, Avengers 4, Ant-Man and the Wasp, Captain Marvel, Spider-Man: Homecoming 2, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 all in the works.
Over the years, we’ve gone from solo movies featuring the core team of Avengers – Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, and Hulk – to films starring characters we never thought we’d see on the big screen including the Guardians of the Galaxy, Doctor Strange, and Ant-Man. And what a wonderful decade it’s nearly been.
Normally, I’m not one to embrace fan edited videos, but voordeel has edited together quite the quick, yet beautiful little tribute to nearly ten years of the MCU, featuring footage from every film and a very brisk editing style that highlights the MCU’s greatest moments and characters, without simply recapping all the films. Check it out now!
I really like what voordeel did with the colors, some sort of saturation, bleeding out some of the less vibrant colors and making the reds, blues, and purples of the MCU really pop. It’s this technique and the editing style that really set this fan-made tribute apart from the rest, reminding us how great the MCU really is. I feel like watching (almost) all sixteen movies right now!
