Solo: A Star Wars Story is almost upon us. Whilst most of the focus is going to be on Alden Ehrenreich’s performance of Han Solo, the role made famous by mega star Harrison Ford, there is already a good buzz about Lando Calrissian. The fellow rogue and gambler is played by Atlanta creator and Childish Gambino star Donald Glover.
Solo actor Donald Glover was asked if he knew what Billy Dee Williams though of his portrayal of Lando. Williams of course was the actor who played Lando in the original Star Wars movies. Here’s what Glover told ComicBook.com about what Williams said to him.
“He texted me, that was all I wanted, all I needed. It definitely made me feel like I didn’t let him down, he was such an iconic figure in the first one, in The Empire Strikes Back, that I definitely didn’t want to let him down.”
And as to what Billy Dee Williams thought of Solo in general, ComicBook.com‘s JK Schmidt caught up with him after the movies premiere.
Spoke with Billy Dee Williams after the #SoloAStarWarsStory premiere. He said he loved the film! The Lando torch has officially been passed.

So Glover and Solo have been given the seal of approval from Billy Dee Williams. Now let’s see what the audiences think of the Star Wars anthology movie. Glover’s portrayal of Lando is certainly the performance I am most looking forward to seeing.
