What If…? – Jeffrey Wright Discusses His Character’s Role In Marvel’s Disney+ Series

Marvel's What If? teaser ahead of August 11th premiere

What If…? is Marvel’s next Disney+ series offering after Loki. So, more and more details are beginning to come to light as the media begins to focus on Marvel’s next series after Loki.

Emmy winner Jeffrey Wright is voicing The Watcher in What If…?

Jeffry Wright spoke to Disney’s 23 Magazine (via The Direct), first breaking down what most comic readers know about his character:

In the comics, he’s an observer—and then some. Here, in the first season, he starts off as an observer, but he gradually becomes more compelled by what he watches.

Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Did he just tease a second season? He likely misspoke, as even if there is a second season, I doubt he’s heard about it. It does feel like What If…? would be the perfect show for multiple seasons as there are so many stories to tell.

Wright went on to say:

There are infinite possibilities with this series within the MCU. I’m open to all of it. One thing I think we’re realizing with Marvel and Kevin Feige’s leadership is that these are broad, broad canvasses they’re painting on. I don’t even try to anticipate, so I’m just open to all of it – as The Watcher would be.

Possible MCU connections? What If..? had my curiosity, but now it has my attention.
