Jackass Forever is a compilation of outrageous stunts. Johnny Knoxville, the ringleader of the bunch, has assembled the majority of the old crew who first started putting themselves in perilous situations all the way back in 2000, when the television version first aired on MTV. Since its inception, the Jackass franchise spawned three seasons, five feature films, and several spin-offs and specials. In this iteration, the old gang gets joined by new blood as they go bigger and bolder with their dangerous behavior and pranks.
What works in Jackass Forever is the love. These individuals truly relish putting themselves (and each other) into the most absurd situations their warped minds can conceive. Regardless of how one feels about watching some rather painful and gross sequences, you have to marvel at the sheer creativity on display. Where else, for example, can you see a man use his genitalia as a beehive? Or watch a vulture eat raw meat off a restrained person? While it would be easy to label these stunts as perverse, there’s certainly a form of artistry to the imagination, and it’s all executed for the purpose of entertainment. Laughter does ensue.

People who don’t enjoy watching others injure themselves, especially their private parts, will not like Jackass Forever. The language is foul, and the activities would probably be deemed as gross for many. In particular, if you have a sensitivity to seeing people vomit, you would be advised to skip this movie. After two decades of trying to one-up their game, this Jackass team go to some pretty extreme lengths in order to outdo their previous efforts. Some may appreciate this dedication, while others may feel that they’ve pushed the limit too far, even by Jackass standards. So be warned: there are a lot of disgusting visuals within Jackass Forever.
Jackass in general, for all the controversy surrounding its perceived glorification of bodily harm, really should be applauded. It’s really not just about the hurt, but rather about representation and even family to a certain degree. These people care about each other, and it’s been something of a novelty to watch them both grow and stay young at heart. They also give a voice to elements of culture often unfairly labeled as taboo, such as male nudity. While Jackass Forever won’t be everyone’s taste, it’s an important chapter in entertainment and this film honorably continues the tradition they’ve created.
