Wheel Of Time: Amazon ‘Optimistic’ About What They’ve Seen So Far

Start sharpening your blade — but don’t sharpen it too fast, because you’ve still got a ways to go — because The Wheel of Time has been underway for a while now, and it may be one of the next series to hit it big to compete alongside The Witcher as heir apparent to fantasy television. But you never know how things turn out. After all, plenty of shows (including an old Wheel of Time take) don’t ever make it past the pilot stage.

That doesn’t appear to be the impression over at Amazon Prime, the streaming service that is bankrolling alongside Sony and distributing the thing.

“…we’re well underway with production. We love what we’ve seen so far,” Amazon co-head of TV Vernon Sanders told the press at TCA. “As you know these big world building shows take some time to craft. There will be news as the year progresses on the series. But we feel incredibly optimistic about the show.”

Amazon Studios head Jennifer Salke added, “We haven’t seen the first cut, but the material coming out of production looks incredible.”

So, when can we expect this thing to land on Amazon Prime Video? Well, TV folks are notoriously secretive and often don’t drop details until they’re nigh upon us (maybe a month or two away), and Sanders didn’t seem to keen on saying much at this point.

“I have a quarter I’m thinking of (in regards to its launch) but it’s too soon to say right now.”

When do you hope to see it? Summer? Fall? Or maybe even it can compete with The Witcher in December, assuming Netflix releases around the same time? Let us know your thoughts down below!
