It looks like Adam Devine is all in on Netflix. Recently, we saw him re-team with the Workaholics creatives for the comedy Game Over, Man!, and now it looks like he’s already back, this time with a romantic-comedy called When We First Met, which co-stars Alexandra Daddario.
The film follows Noah, a guy who lives his life in constant regret. After meeting Avery, the girl of his dreams, he was almost immediately put in the friend zone. Now, three years later, he has to live with the fact that she ended up with someone else. But things take a turn when he goes back in time to relive that very night he met her. Things obviously don’t go according to plan, and he’s forced to relive it over and over again, in hopes that it’ll eventually work.
It’s a nice little twist on the Groundhog Day formula, and it seems like another great addition to the ever-growing Netflix library. It’d be easy to cynical at how recycled this formula is, but at the end of the day, it could be a fun piece of escapism for a couple hours, and Devine rarely disappoints with his comedy to me.
All in all, I find myself torn. I understand the potential for this to feel derivative, but am willing to go into it and just have a good time. But what do you think? Are you interested in seeing When We First Met? Let us know your thoughts down below!
