Whoopi Goldberg Is In Picard Season 2 As Guinan

It looks like Picard Season 2 will get another returning face as Whoopi Goldberg confirms she will appear as Guinan. Guinan is a very old character and a dear friend of Jean-Luc Picard. Goldberg was a guest star throughout Star Trek: The Next Generation. Goldberg also appeared in some of the movies that spawned from that series.

Picard Season 1 saw quite a few returning faces from Picard’s past and it looks like Season 2 will be no different. Goldberg revealed the news when she spoke recently with SFX Magazine. Goldberg was promoting her turn in the new adaptation of Stephen King’s The Stand. However Goldberg was asked about Star Trek and here is her response.

“I haven’t seen Star Trek: Discovery – but I did watch the first season of Picard, which was great. From time to time, I talk to Patrick [Stewart] about Star Trek. Hopefully, I will be joining their cast for a little while next year. I’m very excited about that.”

Goldberg does say hopefully, but that feels more like a positive response. I think what is clear is that Goldberg has been asked to appear in Season 2 and scripts are likely being written with her in mind. Whether that be for one episode or more, who knows? However one would guess perhaps an appearance in one episode. If the schedules don’t work out, I’m sure it’ll be something the writers have thought of another way around.

I enjoyed Picard, however I also had some gripes. I’m happy we are getting Season 2, however I would hope some lessons have been learned. Primarily I was really enjoying the show until the ending, which felt very forced and obvious. I just want to explore more of that TNG era because it’s my favorite era in Star Trek.

What do you think of Whoopi Goldberg potentially appearing in Picard Season 2 as Guinan? As always leave your thoughts below.
