Daniel Craig is reaching the end of his tenure as the world’s greatest spy. Since 2006 with Casino Royale, he has been the representation of British MI-6 agent 007 James Bond. After years of intense thrills, stunning locations, and bruising physicality, Craig seems to have found the next chapter in his career. One that provides less of an impact on his body.
Since 2008’s Quantum Of Solace, Craig has been on the receiving end of a number of injuries. He tore the connecting cartilage in his right shoulder in two different stunts. The latter stunt making his arm “kind of useless” as he put it. In Skyfall, he ruptured both his calf muscles and required rehab while filming. In Spectre, he tore his ACL in a fight scene with Dave Bautista. Oh, and in case you were wondering, Craig holds no ill will towards Bautista.

While Craig is magnificent as Bond, it is no surprise that the actor is ready to hang up his Walther PPK and move on to the next project. Lucky for him, Knives Out came along and gave him just that.
In an interview with GQ, Craig described the feeling of landing that role in Rain Johnson’s film:
“The success of it, going into Bond, could not have come at a better time for me. It’s not like, ‘Okay, this is going to be my career after Bond.’ There’s no plan to it. It’s just kind of worked out.”
Playing Benoit Blanc, the eccentric Southern detective who pieces together the crime in Johnson’s film, gives Craig a perfect transition from his years as Bond. He remains in the spotlight, but now with a character that is more dialogue and less fisticuffs. Craig’s service as Bond will go down arguably as one of the best performances of the character. In this writer’s opinion, he is the best since Sean Connery. However, that time is over. He’s given the world five (No Time To Die releases in November) exciting, connected tales in the life of 007. Now, it’s time to show the world what more he can do. And according to Craig, he’s sure he can do anything.
“I’m pretty sure I can play just about anything… Yeah. I’m pretty sure I can, or at least I can make a fucking good fist of it.”
