Will Daredevil Seasons 1-3 Be Canon In The MCU? Charlie Cox Seems Open For Anything

With the show now coming over to Disney+, fans are wondering will Daredevil Seasons 1-3 be canon in the MCU? Charlie Cox has always said he doesn’t know what the overall plans are. However in a recent appearance at Middle East Film and Comic Con in Abu Dhabi, Cox did have a comment. Now, I was not there, but the quote as reported by Murphy’s Multiverse has language in it which I think is very interesting to analyse.

“In keeping with a lot of things in the MCU … It’s a good moment to have a few years [pass], it’s re imagined, it’s slightly different, it’s ‘born again’.”

The obvious one here is re-imagined. That would certainly imply to me that Daredevil won’t just carry into a Season 4 as if nothing much happened. Clearly whatever comes next for Daredevil happened quite a few years after the events of Season 3. In that time half of the Universe was blipped and then brought back 5 years later by the Avengers. For all we know Matt Murdock could have been one of those blipped away? However I do believe there is compelling evidence in Hawkeye that Kingpin was alive during the Blip years and possibly using Hawkeye to get things done to build himself back to power.

Also the tense Cox uses here feels like he’s talking about a specific project.

“it’s re imagined, it’s slightly different, it’s ‘born again’.”

If Cox was instead talking about a theoretical project, rather than one that is already planned, would he not say, ‘it would need to be re imagined. It has to be slightly different … It should be ‘born again’?

I could be wrong, but I get the feeling Cox already knows a little about what the next steps are for Daredevil in the MCU and this is a grammar slip. In other words the way he views this project is as existing rather than being something he merely hopes for. As for making Daredevil Seasons 1-3 canon in the MCU, it’s not that tricky to pull off is it? After all, at the time they were kinda considered canon anyway. However that doesn’t mean things need to carry on as if there was not a break of several years where a lot of crazy things happened. Daredevil being blipped and suddenly not tracking Kingpin would certainly gives the villain time to build back up his power base again?
