This past weekend, the world finally got to see what Zack Snyder, Chris Terrio, and Jesse Eisenberg cooked up for the newest live-action take on the classic DC villain Lex Luthor. In BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE, Eisenberg made his debut as the character. The end of the film planted the seeds for Luthor having a hand in luring a threat to earth that would force the JUSTICE LEAGUE to come together for the first time. Naturally, the question now is whether or not Lex, himself, will be involved in the first half of the JUSTICE LEAGUE saga- which has been broken up into two parts.
While you may think that’s a certainty, Eisenberg doesn’t sound nearly as convinced. With production set to officially begin imminently, the actor was asked about whether or not his Lex will appear in the film. Here’s what he said:
“I don’t know if they are so settled on where my character goes. I only hope I have another opportunity to work with these wonderful people and play this interesting character.”
That’s what he told Business Insider. Sounds like it’s up in the air.
On the character of Lex Luthor, Eisenberg says he enjoys the duality of this version:
“The character has so many different faces. He has a public persona that appears charming and friendly and then a deeply disturbed private persona, so it will be interesting to see where he goes.”
JUSTICE LEAGUE will find Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Cyborg, Aquaman, and Green Lantern joining forces to take on a cosmic threat.
Say what you will about Eisenberg’s portrayal of Luthor, he definitely left a mark on the minds of audiences. Will you be sad if Lex sat this one out?
