Will Smith Would Like To Star In A Deadshot Standalone Film

The Fresh Price of Bel-Air turned 50 today. To celebrate his birthday Smith went live on Youtube as he bungeed out of a helicopter. But before that he was asked about his character that was introduced in Suicide Squad, Floyd Lawton aka Deadshot. The question was on whether or not there would be a Deadshot standalone film in his future.

Smith answered by saying that they have had meetings about the character saying, “I hope so, I love playing Deadshot. I’m really enjoying that character. They’ve been talking about it. If a good idea comes around… we’ve been having meetings but I would love to. I love Deadshot.”

Whether or not those meeting were for future Suicide Squad films, cameos or a standalone film is unknown at the time. But we do know is that he is expected to return to the sequel for Suicide Squad along with Margot Robbie and Jared Leto. Although the plot details remain under wraps we can say that earlier this month Todd Stashwick and David Bar Katz had completed the script.

Gavin O’Conner is set to direct the film with Charles Roven producing the sequel with Michael De Luca under his Michael De Luca Productions banner.
