Shazam may be the next big DC film to hit the sound stages, but Suicide Squad 2 is likely heading towards a fall 2018 production date, which isn’t too far off.

As we’d expect, the big players like Will Smith an Margot Robbie are pretty much confirmed. However, there is no word on the secondary players like Joel Kinnaman and Jai Courtney. However, in an interesting new Instagram post from Kinnaman, we get some implications that they’ll be back. Check out the post below:

While Kinnaman doesn’t state that the working out is all in anticipation of Suicide Squad 2, the presence of a third man seems to imply as such…sort of. That third man is none other than Jay Hernandez, who played El Diablo in the first Suicide Squad.

The fact that three guys from a previous film are getting whipped back into shape is enough to make us think this could be for the sequel, but Hernandez’s presence is a little puzzling, if true. If you’ve seen the film, you know that El Diablo faced an untimely death in the climax of the film. Is this a confirmation that he somehow survived that final battle? We’ll have to wait and see.

  • J-man The Great

As long as they don’t resurrect The Enchantress…horrible character and villain!

  • 2 Left Thumbs

If they don’t bring back Slipknot then this movie isn’t even worth seeing

  • Mad Barchetta

Now, hold a sec… is this the one where they keep changing directors? Or, no…Affleck might or might not be in still, right? No, wait…Patty Jenkins is definitely coming back but only if they fire Louis CK. Oh…no…that doesn’t make sense. Jenkins is directing the one with The Rock. Dang…um…oh, I know! This is the one that was supposed to have been out right before Justice League, but now won’t happen till 2022 and will reboot the DCEU. Cool, man, cool. I dig it.

but…which one was El Diablo again?

    • Kindofabigdeal

He was the one who always told a story that involved his cousins.

      • Mad Barchetta

Oh yeah. I love that dude! His van could be like their Mystery Machine!

I heard that to save money, instead of cutting out the Joker scenes, they’re just not going to film them at all.

They should introduce a whole new cast, start fresh. The good thing about Suicide Squad is that the roster is so big, there can be a new team for each film.
