Will The Next Purge Film Be The Last? Here’s What The Creator Said

I have a real love-hate relationship with the Purge franchise. It’s such a fantastic concept, and while a couple of the movies have done okay with it, it’s never really lived up to its full potential. I come out of each one excited for the next one, not because I can’t wait to have more the experience I just had, but because there’s some feeling in my gut that the next one will be the one to finally nail it.

But how many movies will we ultimately get before the studio has had enough? Well, it looks like we might be getting the final film sooner rather than later. James DeMonaco, the creator of the franchise, recently sat down with EW, and in their conversations, he brought up that the very next one may end up being their latest and greatest.

“I have it in my head. I think I’m going to write it. I think it’s a great way to end it all. We want to end it all, I think, in this one, and I’m very excited. When I came up with the idea and pitched it to everybody, they seemed psyched, and I think it will be a really cool ending, how we take this one home.”

So, there you have it. The Purge will likely end after an initial five-film run that consists of The Purge, The Purge: Anarchy, The Purge: Election Year, The First Purge, and whatever this final idea is. Of course, there is also the Purge TV series that airs on USA, so if you really want your Purge fix, that may be one way to do it.

But just how does DeMonaco plan on ending this? What world-changing circumstances will befall the characters this time around? Let us know your ideas down below.
