William Mata makes his debut as a director in the upcoming short film Dora And The Fantastical Creatures with an alebrijes adventure.
The Synopsis
In Dora and the Fantastical Creatures, Dora (Diana Zermeño) and Boots (Asher Spence, “Five Nights at Freddy’s”) embark on an incredible adventure to the land of alebrijes, the most magical and colorful creatures in the rainforest. There, they must band together against Swiper (Marc Weiner, “Dora and the Lost City of Gold”) to save the beloved alebrijes and their Copal Tree Celebration.
The short film also features: Anairis Quiñones as Luna Arcoiris (“My Hero Academia”); Danny Burstein (“Blackhat”) as Sol; and Kate del Castillo (“The Book of Life
The animation talent William Mata has been involved in the art department for sixteen years. His first television project was in Shaggy & Scooby-Doo Get a Clue! A few of his popular projects are Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, Puss in Boots, Rise of the Guardians and The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part among several others. In 2014 he made his debut as a co-writer in The Powerpuff Girls: Dance Pantsed and was nominated for an Annie Award for Outstanding Achievement in Writing.
I was connected earlier this week with William Mata to talk about the making of Dora And The Fantastical Creatures. He discussed the getting to combine the vibrant animation colors with alebrijes and the journey of providing enough information in the short film. Dora And The Fantastical Creatures is paired with PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie in theaters in September 29, 2023
