The latest Barside Buzz about the Witches Road Special Presentation is that it will be an Agatha prequel rather than follow on from the upcoming series. Agatha: Coven of Chaos will still release first. However, the SP, shot alongside Agatha, will actually be set before the events of the show. Hell, it may even be set before WandaVision?
The initial information came from Daniel RPK on his Patreon Service. However, this was backed as you can see below by Alex P from TCC.

It is unknown at this time whether Agatha herself stars in this prequel? I guess it’s possible the show is led by some other Witch going on this journey. To keep costs down though, I’m sure there are cast working across both projects for sure.
As you can see from our related article below, it seems like Witches Road will be the final Special Presentation to appear on Disney+ for Marvel. At least, this is the rumor doing the rounds online.

As we covered in that article, it seems making these one-off specials is just not cost effective, even when shot during another shoot. That has been the case for both this Witches Road (never officially announced), and the Guardians Holiday Special. Given how much it is being reported that Marvel Studios is spending on shows it does not surprise me. Secret Invasion reportedly cost far more per episode to make than the final season of Game of Thrones did.
I definitely want more Marvel Disney+ content. However, I am prepared to see the budgets get slashed and the writers forced to give us more character drama. There are some great stories that could be told with Marvel character that hardly use any VFX. New actors could be brought in to play non-movie characters, on smaller contracts. You know, the way things went initially with AoS and Daredevil etc.
Still, I’m looking forward to seeing Agatha: Coven of Chaos and this Witches Road prequel. Though, that could change once we see trailers.
