Woke Season 2 | Aimee Garcia And Miguel Pinzon On Is There A Right Or Wrong Way To Be An Activist? [Exclusive]

Woke

The crew of the Hulu Original series Woke is back! We catch up with cartoonist Keef Knight, played by Lamorne Morris, who has become quite the popular activist. This season he and his buddies struggle with the question of what is worth standing up for. Can any change be brought to any cause if there are so many people who want to advocate for different things? Is there a right or wrong way to try and bring change?

To help answer these questions two new characters have been thrown into the mix in Woke. First, there is Laura, played by Aimee Garcia. She is a no-nonsense, self-made Silicon Valley venture capitalist. She takes interest in Keef’s passion and approach for social justice and offers him a lot of money for his cause. But her corporate business approach to bringing change could post too many roadblocks in their journey despite wanting the same thing.

Also new to the second season of Woke is Tommy, played by Miguel Pinzon. He is a blunt and inscrutable, unhoused artist. With his sharp wit, he challenges Keef and his view of activism. Through conversations and art, he often helps Keef look at the decisions he has made and is thinking of making. Often realizing that he may not be on the right track.

With the release of the second season of Woke, LRM Online‘s Emmanuel Gomez talked with Garcia and Pinzon. In our conversation, we talked about what their characters bring to the series. As well as their interactions with Keef in the series. It was a fun conversation that you can check out down below!

Here is the synopsis for the second season of Woke on Hulu

Cartoonist Keef Knight is now a popular activist on the rise, but he’s facing a world where “woke” has become big business. Can Keef and his friends bring about real change, or is it just about the dollar$? And can Keef navigate this new world without destroying what he’s become? Inspired by the life and work of artist Keith Knight, Woke continues to upend Black nerd and activist culture, deftly satirizing with a wink and a smile.
