WONDER WOMAN writer Jason Fuchs shared a curious photo Monday night via Instagram. In it, you can see a panel of the fan favorite anti-hero Lobo with the vague caption #portraitofbastich, which pulls from one of the character’s frequent insults.
Take a look at the photo below:
So far, Jason Fuchs doesn’t seem to have an incredibly promising writing resume. On his writing filmography are films ICE AGE: CONTINENTAL DRIFT, and PAN — both of which weren’t exactly amazing in terms of their scripts. That being said, we’ve yet to actually see what WONDER WOMAN has brought us, and for all we know, it can be exactly what fans need to restore faith in the DCEU.
If nothing else, if this cryptic post is in fact a tease of a LOBO script, then it sounds like DC and WB are happy with the work he did on WONDER WOMAN, which is a good sign for both the DCEU and Fuchs as a writer.
I wouldn’t get too excited though. While the DCEU film schedule is ever-malleable — and definitely has room for a LOBO film — we can’t rule out the fact that they’re just testing the waters with this one. For all we know, they have only a middling intention of greenlighting LOBO, and are hoping to be swayed by a great script. Should Fuchs not deliver, this may never see the light of day. But we can’t fault DC for pivoting quickly. Perhaps with SUICIDE SQUAD already getting mad positive buzz, they’re looking into some of their edgier properties for inspiration. Lobo would definitely fit the bill quite nicely, and the fact that they’re so quick to respond to the trend could be a good sign.
What are your thoughts? Do you think Fuchs is working on a Lobo movie, and if so, what would you want to see from such a film? Let us know your thoughts down below!
WONDER WOMAN hits theaters on June 2, 2017.
