X-Men 97′ Gets A New Head Writer For Season 3 In Matthew Chauncey

X-Men '97 gets a new head writer for Season 3 in Matthew Chauncey. Read on for more details on this latest news.

As per Deadline, X-Men ’97 gets a new head writer for Season 3 in Matthew Chauncey. As you may know, Marvel parted company with previous head writer Beau DeMayo just before Season 1 premiered. DeMayo was also head writer for Season 2, so Chauncey won’t take over till Season 3. Though X-Men ’97 was a huge hit, I think we all assume DeMayo was let go because of his refusal to stop doing his Only Fans thing. Though, officially that was never mentioned by either party.

As reported by the trade;

‘Matthew Chauncey (What If…?) has been tapped to write Season 3 of Disney+’s X-Men ’97, Marvel Animation‘s revival of the classic ’90s animated series, sources tell Deadline.’

Given that DeMayo completed writing duties on Season 2 already, we can probably expect Season 2 to feel like Season 1. Could change though for Season 3? I guess we will need to wait and see what Chauncey dreams up.

‘Chauncey will work alongside X-Men 97 director Jake Castorena, who has been on the animated followup from the start. Larry Houston and Eric and Julia Lewald, executive produced on the original X-Men: The Animated Series, will remain on as consulting producers. Season 2 of the revival, whose scripts have reportedly been revised, is in production. Season 3 is in development.

I liked X-Men ’97 a lot more than I did What If?. However, that’s not to say the latter was bad, I still very much enjoyed it. Or, most of the episodes, shall we say instead? I’m looking forward to Season 2 of X-Men ’97. If it’s as well loved by the fanbase as Season 1 was. we’re in for a good time. Let’s hope that quality is maintained for Season 3 under new head writer Matthew Chauncey.
