Zack Snyder has worked substantially in the universe of one major franchise. Though it seems at one time, he wanted to play in another. The Star Wars universe. Snyder thinks the time for him to play in that far away galaxy may have passed. The director recently spoke with the YouTube channel TheFilmJunkee on the subject. You can check out what he had to say below.
I think I’ve gone over this a little bit in the past. I am a huge Star Wars fan. The reason why I started making movies when I was 11 years old was because of Star Wars. For sure it has been a huge influence on me and really got me into this mythic path with the Joseph Campbellian take on archetypes and storytelling. Yeah, Star Wars is that to me. I have interest in Star Wars. I don’t think I have a story written now that, I don’t know how I’d fit into the Star Wars universe anymore. Like, I… I don’t know what it is. So it’s a thing I love, but I don’t know if I… maybe it’s moved on from me. I still love it and I have lightsabers everywhere around the house.

Star Wars‘ influence really knows no bounds. Quite frankly, I would love to see Snyder helm a Star Wars film. Criticize his storytelling and pacing, but the man knows how to deliver on some fantastic visuals. And I would love to see this aspect of Snyder’s talent applied to a galaxy far, far away.
As most of you know Snyder is currently hard at work on Zack Snyder’s Justice League. Also known as ‘The Snyder Cut.’ Which will air next year on HBO Max in four, one0hour episodes. Joss Whedon came in to take over for Snyder on the Justice League from 2017 after Snyder had to leave the project due to a family tragedy.
