As we’re still a long way away from each of us getting our own actual lightsaber, it’s now possible for you to acquire your very own, full size R2 unit as Disney’s Star Wars land, called Galaxy’s Edge will offer to make guests their personalized R2-D2. The only thing standing you between you and a custom made Star Wars droid is the small fee of $25,ooo. Yeah, that bummed me out as well.
That’s 25K without tax or shipping for the price that already seems to be outrageous, though I have no idea how much it costs to make a unit does has everything the real R2-D2 does. The droid is said to be of the same caliber units used in the films and at conventions such as Comic-Con.

Galaxy’s Edge will also offer a much less expensive route to getting yourself a droid at the Droid Depot. It will cost you $99 for a toy version of the much more expensive film ready version. Other higher-end collectibles include a replica of Poe Dameron’s helmet for a $650, your very own Kylo Ren Mask will set you back $750, and replica First Order Stormtrooper gear is only $6,615.
These are all very cool items, and if I had 25K to dispose of, a fully functional R2 unit seems like a pretty good way to spend it. As we’re still a long way away from all of us having our own lightsabers, this very expensive R2-D2 may end up being one of the more sought after items for the hardcore fans.
