Game Of Thrones Creators Developing H.P. Lovecraft Movie

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms - Game of Thrones spin-off (prequel) Hedge Knight series will shoot in Spring, 2024.

Well, now I feel like a fool. After spending a solid decade at HBO churning out an adaptation, I imagined that Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss were probably growing weary of working on other people’s ideas. So, when they left their Star Wars trilogy at Lucasfilm, I figured it was in favor of more original ideas. After all, why not allow them that opportunity after adapting someone else’s work for all these years?

It appears that wasn’t really the case at all, based on the next project hitting from the duo. Variety is reporting that Benioff and Weiss have found their next project, and it’s going to be a film adaptation of the graphic novel Lovecraft. The story is being written by Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi, and it is unknown if the pair will direct.

The story follows life of author H.P. Lovecraft — a storyteller whose stories have engaged the minds of readers for decades and decades. Without a doubt, he’s left his mark on the sci-fi genre. This story will reportedly “tackle the idea of Lovecraft’s otherworldly creatures being real.”

Sounds like an interesting idea, and it’s a fittingly dark story for the two to take on, but it is a bit odd to me that they just left one adaptation for another. That being said, you can’t exactly fault anyone for their passion being in one place over another, so perhaps it was a good idea they left Star Wars when they did.
