George R.R. Martin Using Quarantine To Work On The Winds Of Winter

.

Making the best out of a bad situation, author George R.R. Martin is using his time in self-quarantine to work on the long, long-awaited, The Winds of Winter. The novel will be the sixth installment into his A Song of Ice and Fire series, upon which HBO’s wildly popular Game of Thrones was based on.

Martin has never yielded to pressure from fans to hurry his work. Taking his time to keep up the quality of the world he’s built and the story he is telling. Which is why it’s so f***ing good. He began writing his now beloved fantasy epic in 1991, finishing the first entry into the series, A Game of Thrones.

The author took to his notablog, blog, to give fans an update on himself as well as progress on the book. Check it out below.

“For those of you who may be concerned for me personally… yes, I am aware that I am very much in the most vulnerable population, given my age and physical condition. But I feel fine at the moment, and we are taking all sensible precautions. I am off by myself in a remote isolated location, attended by one of my staff, and I’m not going in to town or seeing anyone. Truth be told, I am spending more time in Westeros than in the real world, writing every day. Things are pretty grim in the Seven Kingdoms… but maybe not as grim as they may become here.

Talk about a silver lining, The Winds of Winter‘s release has been pushed back more than once, much to the dismay of fans. The author has said that while his ending to the story will have similarities to the show’s ending, there will, of course, be differences in the path taken to reach the end.

For old time sakes, I’ve included a clip of innocent fans watching in horror and disbelief at the events that took place at the now infamous Red Wedding, check it out below.
