Star Wars Squadrons has the worst luck of any video game premiere. First Xbox accidentally leaked the premiere trailer for the game a couple days early from EA Play Live. Now Amazon has given some an early Christmas present. It seems that some pre-orders of Star Wars Squadrons were sent out a day early. YouTube channel GizGaming has already posted the PS4 VR gameplay of the first two single player missions. Thankfully, there isn’t any commentary so you can hear and see everything crystal clear.

From first plays it seems that initial reactions are mixed. You can check out GrizGaming’s reaction below about the initial single player mission.
This is what GrizGaming had to say about the initial experience playing the first two missions.
Simultaneously impressive (a bonafide full campaign, incredibly detailed cockpits and fun dogfights) but not as good as it could be (flat 2D cutscenes, blurry backdrop graphics and sacrificed polygons). That said, the positives far outweigh the negatives for me. Having a (turbolaser) blast and I haven’t even hit up multi with mates.
When asked about the experience of the game being in VR this is what GizGaming had to say.
It hurts my Empire loving heart to say it, but you feel more “there” in an Xwing. The canopy is more open, allowing you to headtrack targets to a far greater degree. The basic TIE cockpit feels claustrophobic compared. The moments when you’re near large objects (like skimming under a Star Destroyer) feel nice and hectic.
Does the VR single player preview excite you? What are you most looking forward to in the game?
