In the acting world, one must be very versatile to adapt into many different roles and functions. For Valene Kane, she took on roles from a horror project in Victor Frankenstein to crime dramas of The Fall and Gangs of London and event to a sci-fi role in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
For the first time in her career in Profile, her entire performance is captured on her laptop, including navigating on different pages and the Internet, Skype calls, and text messages. Remarkably, she’ll stretch her own acting abilities while capturing the performance as her own cinematographer. All of the efforts, just to create a very intense buildup as a journalist Amy attempting to infiltrate ISIS on her computer screen.
Here’s the official synopsis:
Profile follows an undercover British journalist in her quest to bait and expose a terrorist recruiter through social media, while trying not to be sucked in by her recruiter and lured into becoming a militant extremist herself. The unconventional thriller plays out entirely on a computer screen in Screenlife format, pioneered by Timur Bekmambetov.
Shazad Latif also stars in the film. Timur Bekmambetov directed the movie from a script written by Bekmambetov, Britt Poulton, and Olga Kharina. It is based on a novel “In the skin of a Jihadist” written by Anna Erelle.

LRM Online’s Gig Patta chatted with actress Valene Kane on her performance and involvement in the creative process. She talked about Screenlife performance capture, the challenges, and the intensity involved.
Valene Kane is an Irish actress, in which her best known performance in all three series of BBC Two’s BAFTA-nominated The Fall as Rose Stagg. In 2013, she played the title role of Miss Julie. Later In 2016, she took the lead in BBC Three’s drama Thirteen, third series of The Fall, and an episode of Murder. Also in 2016, she landed the protagonist’s mother in the blockbuster film Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
Profile releases in theaters this Friday, May 14.
