As I’m sure you know, some big upcoming Marvel delays have been rumored and expectations have been set. However today we share more evidence as we await an official announcement of a new slate. Following the dismissal of Marvel exec Victoria Alonso, Variety ran an article trying to look at what happened and who was at fault.
Now, we’ve already covered that news, however there was an interesting note at the articles end. Check it out.
That’s the wrong trajectory for a studio that Disney has come to rely upon as an unshakable box office cash machine, one whose films have grossed over $28 billion at the global box office, especially as Iger makes plain that he’s cutting costs across the company. Insiders say the five Disney+ series from Marvel Studios that had been scheduled to debut in 2023 have been narrowed to three or four, with the others moving into 2024 and possibly beyond. That will take some of the immediate pressure off of Marvel’s post-production pipeline. Alonso’s absence is not expected to affect the next Marvel title, May’s “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3,” which has nearly locked picture.
This part specifically, and I doubt I need to vouch for Variety‘s sources.
“Insiders say the five Disney+ series from Marvel Studios that had been scheduled to debut in 2023 have been narrowed to three or four, with the others moving into 2024 and possibly beyond.”

This would match with all the rumors of delays. Plus, as this article points out, Bob Iger has already set the table for this announcement with investors. There really can be no doubt these upcoming Marvel delays are real. Now all that remains is to see if the delays are extensive as some rumors claimed? Remember those rumors said Avengers: Secret Wars could slip as far as 2028. (Jeez, I’ll be 50 by then, we need some young blood here at LRM, so give me a shout if interested in writing.) There are also rumors that movie could be slip into two parts. That’s all still unconfirmed, but this is more evidence to back it up.
When will the delay hammer fall? Why not rip off the plaster now rather than wait and announce exciting delays in the con season? I have no answers for that. However, as a fan, I can say I’d much prefer to have less very good MCU projects, than more really average ones. If that happens, no complaints on delays for me, even though I’ll be an old man (sad face).
So, more evidence of the upcoming Marvel delays. Drop the hammer Disney, we all know it’s coming. As always, let us know what you think? Leave it below if you can.
