It was only a week or so ago that I finished watching Season 1 of Ozark on Netflix, it was something I stumbled upon while browsing the streaming service one evening and gave it a shot. I am so glad I did and then binge watched all 10 episodes within a week. (That’s binging for me)
As soon as I had finished I wanted to know about Season 2, when is it due to hit and are they even making it, and then I found out that Season 1 had only just been released in July. It could take ages for them to decide on a Season 2, so I spread the word to everyone I could, more people watching means more chance of getting another season we assume, although Netflix never release their viewer numbers for shows.

I was therefore delighted to hear that Netflix have indeed renewed Ozark for Season 2, and clearly it was all down to the seven or eight people I told about it and the little promo I wrote for it on LRM weekend? Right? You can thank me later Ozark fans.
Anyway, getting back to reality for a moment, Netflix made the announcement that Ozark is renewed for Season 2 with a further 10 episodes. To see what this is all about here is a promotional video for Season 1.
Ozark is a money centric show about financial planner Marty Byrde (Jason Bateman) and his Wife Wendy (Laura Linney) who have to suddenly relocate from the suburbs of Chicago to a summer resort in the Missouri Ozarks. Can you really launder $500M of dirty money over the Summer? If they don’t, then not only their lives, but those of their two children could be at risk!
I must say it’s one of the best shows I have seen in a while and I immediately want to compare it to the classic Breaking Bad in terms of how it all just comes together so well with some great multi dimensional characters. It also compares to Breaking Bad in terms of pacing, sometimes it can feel very slow, but then when the pace does pick up, it just accelerates into overdrive at times and you are left gobsmacked by some of the plots.
I thoroughly recommend Season 1 which is available on Netflix right now. The release date for Season 2 has not been announced yet but is likely to be sometime in 2018.
