The Fantastic Beasts franchise has two films under its belt, with three more films in the series planned. As most of you know, the films are set in and are a spin-off of the Harry Potter films. So while it’s unlikely, it’s definitely possible that Harry, Ron, Hermione, or even smaller characters could somehow show up in future films. The boy wizard himself, Daniel Radcliffe, recently spoke with Variety and gave his opinion on reprising Harry Potter in the spin-off series, check out what he had to say below.
“I don’t think so. I don’t like to say no to things, but it’s not something that I’m rushing to do. I feel like those films have moved on and they’re doing just fine without us. I’m happy to keep it that way. I like what my life is now. I’m not saying that I’ll never go back into any franchise, but I like the flexibility that I have with my career now. And I don’t want to get into a situation where I’m signed up for one series for years in advance.”

If it could be worked into the story naturally somehow, I would be all for having Harry appear in a Fantastic Beasts film, or actually any of the main cast from the Potter franchise. Some actors who become so heavily associated with a role, as is the case with Radcliffe and Harry Potter, find it difficult to break away from being that character, but in my opinion, Radcliffe has done quite well in his choice of roles to separate himself from being The Boy Who Lived.
Though unlike other actors in similar situations, Radcliffe has never appeared to be bitter toward the role, as it made him famous and opened up many opportunities for him. I enjoy the spin-off films, while it’s not quite on the level of the Potter films, the Fantastic Beasts adventures are both enjoyable and entertaining, and it’s great to go back to the world of magic and muggles.
