Sony Pictures Classics released the theatrical trailer for the upcoming comedy “Damsels in Distress.”

The film stars Greta Gerwig (“No Strings Attached,” “Greenberg”), Adam Brody (“Mr. & Mrs. Smith,” “The O.C.”), Analeigh Tipton (“Crazy, Stupid, Love,” “The Green Hornet”), Megalyn Echikunwoke (“Spyder Games,” “The 4400”), and Carrie MacLemore.

Here is the synopsis:

A trio of beautiful girls set out to revolutionize life at a grungy American university – the dynamic leader Violet Wister, principled Rose and sexy Heather. They welcome transfer student Lily into their group, which seeks to help severely depressed students with a program of good hygiene and musical dance numbers. The girls become romantically entangled with a series of men – including smooth Charlie, dreamboat Xavier, the mad frat pack of Frank and Thor – who threaten the girls’ friendship and sanity.

The film is directed and written by Whit Stillman (“Metropolitan,” “The Last Days of Disco”).

“Damsels in Distress” will be released in theaters on April 6.
