‘Top Gun’ Director Tony Scott Commits Suicide

British movie director Tony Scott committed suicide yesterday.

He was best known for several movies in the past few decades including “Top Gun,” “Days of Thunder,” “Beverly Hills Cop II,” “Man on Fire,” and “The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3.” The last film he directed was 2010’s “Unstoppable” with Denzel Washington and Chris Pine.

Tony Scott often works with his brother, Ridley Scott, on several projects. The brothers recently wrapped A&E’s “Coma,” which is a medical thriller set to premiere next month.

Scott, 68, committed suicide yesterday afternoon by jumping off the Vincent Thomas Bridge, which connects San Pedro and Terminal Island in Los Angeles County. The Los Angeles Port Police, Los Angeles Police Department, California Highway Patrol and Coast Guard all participated in searching the waters for his body.

According to reports, a suicide note was found in his black Toyota Prius, which was parked on the eastbound lanes of the bridge. The details of the note were not released at this time.

Scott will surely be missed and his great movies.
