Brace yourselves as today we learn a new holiday special is on the way. USAToday is reporting that The LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special is set to premiere on the Mouse’s own streaming service, Disney+ on November 17. Which just so happens to be the same day the original debuted back in 1978.
The upcoming special will be set after the events of The Rise of Skywalker. The story will see Rey and BB-8 be sent back through time after a trip to a Jedi Temple. They will meet some familiar franchise favorites along the way. Check out what Josh Rime, executive producer, ha to say about it below.
“We wanted to give a wink and a nod to the original. It’s a celebration of the saga. A lot of characters will be interacting with different characters and perhaps even different versions of themselves at different age. Life Day was an easy sell with Lego and Star Wars because it gives you the license to be a little more playful and comedic.”
This sounds pretty cool. I usually pass on this sort of content, but it’s the time travel. I’ve been into the general concept since I was a kid and I’m interested to see Rey and BB-8 interacting with beloved characters. It also doesn’t hurt that LEGO is involved as I think they usually put out pretty good work.
