American Gods Season Two Adds New Cast Members

In 2017, Starz took a chance on a very complex story. Writers Bryan Fuller and Michael Green made an ambitious attempt to adapt author Neil Gaiman’s international bestselling novel American Gods into a cable television series. Starz went along and with complete creative freedom, the series became one of the network’s best-reviewed shows.

Making minor changes where need be but following the overall arch that Gaiman had written, American Gods has become a favorite among fans of the novel and those who have yet to read it. Now, as filming for season 2 is underway, there is news regarding the cast of Starz’ critically acclaimed series.

Dean Winters (Oz, Law & Order: SVU, Allstate’s “Mayhem” ads), Devery Jacobs (Mohawk Girls) and Kahyun Kim (Shameless) have joined the cast as Mr. Town, Sam Black Crow and New Media, respectfully. Kim will be taking over for the departing Gillian Anderson, who played the character in the first season. This time around, Winters’ Mr. Town will be tasked with tracking down Shadow (Ricky Whittle) in order to find out what Mr. Wednesday (Ian McShane) is up to. Jacobs’ Sam Black Crow is a college student that is spiritually cynical for someone while selling her chainsaw art on the roadside.

American Gods will be slated to return to Starz sometime in 2019.
