Twenty Something is a new Pixar short that is being released this Friday exclusively on Disney+. It is early in those twenty something years that we finally transition from teenager to adult. Pixar has always been good at amplifying feelings or moments that are very pivotal to us. In this short by Aphton Corbin that is no different!
In Twenty Something we find Gia celebrating her twenty-first birthday. This is such an important moment in people’s life. To celebrate this grand occasion, people sometimes go out to a club or to a bar. Places that until their twenty-first birthday were unwelcoming as they didn’t meet the age requirements. It could feel like the world is in your hands. Or maybe something quite the opposite could happen. You freeze in the moment and all of a sudden you could feel small, like a kid again completely out of your element. Nevertheless, I think it’s a wonderful time in people’s life because you can now discover so many more things!
Here is the synopsis for Twenty Something from Disney/Pixar
Adulting can be hard. Some days you’re nailing it, while other days, you’re just a stack of kids hiding in a trench coat hoping no one notices. Gia finds herself in this exact scenario the night of her 21st birthday. This is a story about the insecurities of adulting and how we’re all just faking it till we make it.
With the release of Twenty Something this week, LRM Online’s Emmanuel Gomez spoke with Aphton Corbin. She is the director of the Pixar Short. During our interview, we talk about the challenges in growing up. Also we explore the reasons why she has picked those three particular ages to be represented in her film and the animation style. Overall it was a fun conversation! Be sure to check out the full interview down below!
