Aquaman: Nicole Kidman Confirmed For Atlanna? Plus New Synopsis

Although Aquaman is still quite a ways down the road from being released, thanks to a casting call site we may have discovered both a new synopsis andconfirmation of an actress to appear in the film. On acting-auditions.org a brief synopsis for the film reads as follows.

Aquaman will center on Aquaman as a reluctant ruler of the underwater kingdom of Atlantis who is caught between land dwellers that are always polluting the globe and his own people who are ready to invade the surface. Screen Actors Guild Award nominee Jason Momoa will play Aquaman. Also starring is Academy Award winner Nicole Kidman as Atlanna, Hollywood Film Awards winner Amber Heard as Mera, two-time Academy Award nominee Willem Dafoe as Nuidis Vulko, two-time Golden Globe Award nominee Patrick Wilson as Orm/Ocean Master, New Zealand Film and TV Awards winner Temuera Morrison as Thomas Curry, and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta.

“Two-time Hollywood Film Awards winner James Wan will direct “Aquaman” from a screenplay written by Will Beall based on a treatment by Wan and DC Entertainment President Geoff Johns. Albert Cho is 1st AD. Producers are Jon Berg, Geoff Johns, Peter Safran, Deborah Snyder, and Zack Snyder. Rob Cowan will serve as executive producer.”

The biggest news here is that the site does appear to confirm that Nicole Kidman will be playing Arthur Curry’s (Aquaman) mother, Atlanna, which up until now has only been rumored. It is important that we take this with a grain of salt, as sometimes these casting websites can be using second-hand information, or are simply wrong.

The movie plot synopsis is pretty cool itself, as it centers around the current tensions that have been occurring around the past ten years or so in the comics. It is usually Aquaman holding back someone like Ocean Master from invading the surface, or in the most recent run he held back his own people after being manipulated by a group called N.E.M.O. led by Black Manta. The original plot we have is this:

“Aquaman (Momoa) is the King of the Seven Seas. Leader of Atlantis, he is caught between the surface world constantly ravaging the seas and Atlanteans looking to lash out in revolt. Aquaman is committed to protecting the entire world. This film is part of WB’s shared DC cinematic universe.”

Either way, we do seem to have a tension filled story on our hands and I am actually quite excited to see this! Are you? Let us know!
