According to the latest Barside Buzz around Armor Wars, it seems Marvel wants a director soon and a Justin Hammer return. The information comes from Daniel RPK on his Patreon service. RPK says that Marvel is now looking to lockdown a director for Armor Wars soon. The plan, he claims is to start filming the movie in 2025.
RPK also says that Marvel has held talks with actor Sam Rockwell about reprising his role as Justin Hammer (Iron Man 2) for the movie.
As we know Armor Wars has been in development for some time and will start Don Cheadle as Rhodey. Although, the movie did begin life as a Disney + series, Marvel realized to do this story justice it needed a movie budget. Or, at least that’s what Cheadle has said about the decision to change from TV to film.
We don’t quite know yet where Armor Wars fits into the slate of releases. However, RPK claims the plan is to film in 2025 and that makes sense to me for a 2026 release.

A for Hammer? Well let’s face it, Rockwell’s Justin Hammer was one of the highlights of Iron Man 2. Fans have wanted Rockwell back since Iron Man 2 was released and all we have had so far is some animated appearances.
It would totally make sense for Hammer to show up in Armor Wars. I’m all for it. However, I guess what really matters most is whether Sam Rockwell is up for another movie with Marvel or not?
There’s been talk of Rockwell being spoken to previously. However, Armor Wars is the only project I’ve seen Rockwell/Hammer seriously linked to.
