Artoo and Threepio in Kenobi? We will get to that below. First of all we want to back up the recent Sung Kang and Leia rumor for Obi-Wan Kenobi, first broke by Jordan Maison of Cinelinx on Friday. Then, we will add to that all we know so far. Warning that there are potential SPOILERS for Obi-Wan Kenobi below, depending on your own spoiler meter.
Sung Kang and Leia Rumor
On Friday LRM reported that multiple Inquisitors would appear in Obi-Wan Kenobi in addition to the character played by Moses Ingram. You can check this in the related section below. At the time we were not quite ready to reveal the name of one of those Inquisitors. Maison beat us to the punch in his article linked above later the same day. Sung Kang is the name we have been given also for an Inquisitor. At the time we were still trying to get a second source to confirm Kang for us, which we now have done. Here is what Maison said in his story.

I’ve heard that we’ll be seeing a few characters who initially appeared in Star Wars Rebels. With the show itself set about 9-10 years before the events of that show, it makes sense that we’ll see plenty of those characters pop up. Which brings me about to actor Sung Kang.
Now, we do have some information about who else may be showing up from Rebels. However, as with most good outlets, we are attempting to confirm with another source right now. We expect to have that information for you tomorrow, but no guarantees, so watch this space. However Maison says one of them is Kang’s character below.
Both of my sources seemed pretty confident when they said that Kang was playing none other than the Fifth Brother, who appeared in Rebels.
Just being up front, we cannot back up the identity of the Inquisitor Kang is playing, yet. Though, I’m sure we will soon.
WE TALK ABOUT THESE RUMORS ON THE DAILY COG:
Leia
Here is what Maison said about Leia in Obi-Wan Kenobi.
I can tell you Leia is a part of Kenobi in a big way. In fact, from what I’ve heard, the stuff dealing with Leia is pretty much the impetus for the whole show and what gets Obi-Wan (Ben) into another adventure.
Even better, I can tell you that Vivien Lyra Blair (Bird Box, We Can Be Heroes) has been cast in the role!
Now all we can back Maison up with directly here is the fact Leia is indeed in Obi-Wan Kenobi, and that leads us to our own exclusive news below. As for how big of a role Leia plays, or the actress playing her, I have no reason to doubt Maison here. After all his sources are clearly given him legit information as far as we are concerned. I just want to make it clear which aspects we are backing 100%.
Artoo and Threepio
Yes, it makes sense if Leia is around, so might Artoo and Threepio be? However LRM can exclusively reveal that both Artoo and Threepio will make an appearance within Obi-Wan Kenobi. Again we cannot say how big a role they have, but they are in it.
When we first heard this news over the weekend my The Cantina co-host Kyle Malone was a bit worried. As Kyle pointed out, with Threepio’s memory wipe, he really should not meet Obi-Wan again before A New Hope. However, as I said to Kyle, just because they are in it, doesn’t mean they share any scenes with McGregor? In fact it’s possible Leia won’t be in any scenes with Kenobi either?
Again, I’m not saying whether that’s the case or not. This is purely speculation on my part until we hear more details.
Talking of The Cantina, Maison also said in this report that we will see Flashbacks of Obi-Wan and Anakin in the Clone Wars.
Now, just to point out that this leak was first reported by the guys formerly of KRT, and was backed up by ourselves pretty quickly. Therefore we’ve known this for well over a month now. If you don’t believe us, feel free to check out us discussing this on The Cantina below. Just so we make sure our friends that used to do KRT get their credit for this one.
The Cantina
Talking about The Cantina, we are cooking up the biggest story of the week for Friday’s episode. If we can get confirmation of this one (non-Kenobi related) we will go live with the news on air. However, I can’t guarantee this until questions are asked of our top tier source. I’m hopeful though.
You can also check out hosts Kyle and Manny, along with myself and Shockey talk about this news in the link below for The Daily COG. Give it a listen for a bit more information on what we all think.
