It’s hard to get a series made. We may be living in a golden age of television, but that only means that competition is fiercer than it’s ever been before, with everyone and their mom pushing for some sort of streaming or cable TV series. After all, the medium is now ripe for cinematic and longform storytelling, which is fairly unique to our current age.
As such, even though author Rick Riordon is a bestselling author across several middle grade series, and that he’s had two films adapted from his Percy Jackson series already, even he has to hustle to get something made. This is true even though Disney has now inherited the rights from Fox.

Not too long ago, we reported on a rumor that a Percy Jackson Disney+ series was in the works. The report came from the choppy We Got This Covered outlet, but it looks like there may have been a grain of truth behind it, as Rick Riordon took to Twitter on December 10 to share that he was hard at work convincing the House of Mouse to adapt his series, though it’s unclear if he’s pushing for new theatrical films, Disney+ films, or a Disney+ series.

Two days passed, and Riordon shared another couple of L.A.-set photos.

Even as recently as yesterday, Riordon shared another photo from the Disney lot, showing the iconic Dwarfs statues. This tweet indicated he was back in Boston but that his time there was productive. Now we wait.
